The Veyrier case

As part of the renovation of the Jewish cemetery of Veyrier, its has been recommended to adopt a new computer tool. The following paragraphs present the steps that led to greatly streamline management tasks, and to ease visits by deploying Ethernal.

Phase 1

Digitization of architectural plans

In the form of over-sized paper sheets, architectural plans have been digitized and reassembled to constitute a general plan, which will be used as a background image on the geographic map.

Thanks to Google Maps, our designers have carefully realigned the plan with the corresponding satellite images to redraw to the scale and make a vector version, which was also used to add, in their actual positions, the natural landmarks such as trees.

  • Photographs of the graves and database insert

Phase 2

Data transformation and photographs

The register of the cemetery, already available in Excel format, has been first controlled, and then converted into a format usable by Ethernal

In parallel, our photographers have walked across the site to take a quality snapshot of each plot, following a rigorous and precise method developed by us.

Finally, the photographs have been linked with the locations in the program, which has produced a clean, clear and complete database.

Phase 3

Installation of the management tool

The condition of the cemetery as well as correspondance with the map have been checked in the management tool of Ethernal.

Minor corrections were made and biogrpahies of the personnalities of the cemetery were written.

Ethernal Pro
  • Delivery of the kiosk
  • Adaptation for the site
  • Installation of the cabling and base
  • Tests in real conditions

Phase 4

Installation of the device

A public kiosk, equipped with a 42-inch touch screen, has been ordered and received by our team.

It has been adapted to the site’s requirements, working closely with architects and engineers in charge of pour foundations and supply electricity and Internet access.

Once the kiosk is installed, we launched a series of functionality tests, including the use of the kiosk under extreme conditions such as freezing cold, snow and wind.

Conclusion

The Jewish cemetery of Veyrier is now equipped with a modern management tool, which makes it very easy to know the state of occupation, the names and dates of the occupants or the status of reservations, but also to plan creating new sites and more.

The system is used to its full potential through the terminal installed at the entrance of the cemetery, which allows visitors to locate quickly and clearly any grave, and to learn about the personalities.
